Post-Treatment Skin Care Guide

Elskin Lab · Aftercare

Proper aftercare is just as important as the treatment itself. Following the right post-treatment protocol ensures optimal results, minimises side effects, and protects your skin during the recovery process.

General Post-Treatment Guidelines

Regardless of the specific treatment you receive, these universal principles apply to most aesthetic procedures:

Sun Protection: Apply broad-spectrum SPF 50+ every two hours when outdoors. UV exposure is the single biggest threat to post-treatment skin and can cause hyperpigmentation, inflammation, and compromised healing.

Hydration: Keep your skin well-moisturised with gentle, fragrance-free products. Drink plenty of water to support your skin’s natural healing processes from within.

Gentle Cleansing: Use a mild, pH-balanced cleanser. Avoid scrubbing, exfoliating, or using active ingredients (retinol, AHAs, BHAs) unless your clinician advises otherwise.

After Laser Treatments

Expect some redness and warmth for 24–48 hours. Apply the recommended recovery cream and avoid hot showers, saunas, and intense exercise for at least 48 hours. Do not pick at any crusting or peeling skin.

After Chemical Peels

Peeling typically begins 2–3 days post-treatment and can last up to a week. Let the skin shed naturally — pulling or peeling prematurely can cause scarring or pigmentation issues.

After Microneedling

Your skin may appear red and feel sensitive for 1–3 days. Avoid makeup for at least 12 hours and use only the products recommended by your clinician during the first 48 hours.

When to Contact Your Clinician

While some redness, swelling, and sensitivity are normal, contact your treatment provider if you experience severe pain, prolonged swelling, signs of infection, or unexpected reactions.
